Alan J. Morales provides legal counsel to clients in all California markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Long Beach, Orange County, Oakland, Sacramento, Inland Empire, the Central Coast and Humboldt/Mendocino/Trinity County. Clients include cannabis retailers (storefront & non-storefront), microbusinesses, manufacturers, cultivators, distributors, testing laboratories, tech start-ups, ancillary businesses, landlords medical providers and investment groups.
Mr. Morales began his cannabis industry career by working for a non-storefront delivery service based in Los Angeles. He served as in-house counsel and managed the legal aspects of the company's expansion across California. His responsibilities included cannabis license acquisition, corporate governance, stock option plan and cap table management, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and construction management as well as employment matters. Mr. Morales also gained substantial experience interfacing with state and local municipalities and agencies regarding cannabis compliance and operations. Working on the business side of the industry gives Mr. Morales a unique perspective on legal issues and a deep understanding of the expectations and constraints of cannabis businesses. This experience has also allowed Mr. Morales to develop a vast network of professionals to help his clients launch, grow and sell their businesses.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Morales worked at the publicly traded real estate investment trust (Realty Income Corp.) and two investment banks (UBS & Wedbush Securities). Mr. Morales uses his background in real estate, finance and law to provide a pragmatic approach to addressing his client's legal issues.
Alan Morales received his B.A. from the University of Southern California where he majored in Economics and minored in Business Law. Mr. Morales received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was a member of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science and Technology and Business Law Clinic.
